Comment to FB Doyenne Debra J. Saunders

She posted a link to her own column at the Las Vegas Review-Journal with the teaser subhead “Saving Trump from himself.” I was the first to comment:

“Saving Trump from himself.” Nonsense. Trump haters are the masters of having their cake and eating it too. Trump is authoritarian — he surrounds himself with toadies who agree with everything he says or follow him blindly. Trump is incompetent at picking staff — he keeps firing so many the WH looks like a revolving door. Trump is so volatile and unstable that it takes his staff to save him from catastrophic errors, which enables us to see how truly weak and in over his head he is.

Which is it? You can’t have it all. Most likely, Trump is a tough boss, a hard taskmaster with little patience for screwups. His White House must be a contentious place, maybe with lots of yelling. (Of what President has it NOT been said that he had a temper and blew his stack at times? GWB maybe, and possibly some others who came to be criticized for being creatures of their staffs...)

Of course, none of you political experts has ever lost his temper and vowed to do this, that, or the other thing in anger that you ultimately did not do — because you got it off your chest with the big yell or wound up listening to counselors you rely on because you can trust their judgment in emotional tight spots.

All of your analysis of Trump — Who he is and Who he isn’t — is the purest crap. You’ve been myopic eyewitnesses of one of the most searing and threatening ordeals any president has ever had to face, let alone a newly elected president. You were always johnny-on-the-spot with your junk analyses that were usually proven wrong within days of your having written them. But your idiot fascination with your own egos prevented you from seeing what is blindingly obvious to any acute observer. Written weeks ago here:

Saying What No One Else Wants to Say About Trump (Reposted at IPR yesterday)

I must tell you, lots and lots of people out here are fed to the teeth with your tired dumb-smart schtick. And I’m sure they will slowly but surely start confronting you for your arrogant buffoonery, past AND present. Get used to it.

This is an exhortation to all of you. Don’t just ignore the haters. Confront them. Not with expletives but with evidence. Make them uncomfortable. Make them defend the outrageous nonsense they’ve offered to the public debate in the past as well as what they’re pontificating about today. What the Internet is best at: Preserving a Record of the Past. Use it.
