Israel Bullying its Neighbors Again
What’s all the fuss about? Israel is only twice the size of LA. Not worth even half the attention, right?
This may look complicated, and in the mechanics and timelines and geopolitics of it all it is, but underneath all the noise it really is simple this time. Iran is committed to the destruction, the utter annihilation, of Israel. They will never change their policy about this. Iran wants a bomb. No amount of wheedling, negotiating, or compromise will end this obsessive hunger. Israel wants to take care of them alone. Why? Apart from Trump in the White House, there is no one they can trust. The opposition party and even a big chunk of the Republican Party are willing to sell out Israel with intelligence leaks, stall tactics, and and everything conceivable to make Middle East conflict profitable for their purses and careers.
Netanyahu, battling appeasing insurrectionists of his own, has decided this is his best and perhaps only opportunity to cut off the head of the snake. None of us know how much of all the diplomatic politik underway is part of an understood strategy by Netanyahu and Trump 2.0. We won’t know, because effective military plans/operations are carried out in secret. Sorry if that bugs you. We are all in the grandstands now. And the stakes are huge for everyone. So be it. Sit on your frustrations. Sit on them hard.
Meanwhile… what is the ‘loyal opposition’ up to?
They’ve chosen this critical phase of international crisis to play the only card they have left in their worn out deck of anti-Trump tactics. Slapstick stunt politics. Democrats can offer no real leadership in domestic or foreign policy matters. Plumb out of ideas on every front. They have no position regarding Israel that makes them look anything but bad and antisemitic so they’ll likely keep on ignoring Middle East realities even now. Why things like urban riots need to be orchestrated, generating more wag-the-dog opportunities to blame Trump for whatever he does to put out their literal fires.
The urban warfare thing is important because the illegal immigration problem and its escalating after-effects are just so gigantic in scale that only an equally huge distraction that can be blamed on Trump might give them any cover at all.
That’s why I’m changing tone here. Yes, the Israel-Iran events are existentially large, but we are all in the position of having to wait to see how the situation plays out. There’s no set of gotcha questions the Alphabetix Media can ask on TV or in press conferences that will accomplish anything but revelation of just how witless the practitioners of ‘big-time’ journalism have become.
The Democrats want us to follow the shiny object of their latest diversionary stratagem. Which is a carefully organized repeat of the George Floyd riots in 2020, where all kinds of bad things can happen with police and MAGA missteps or responses that can be mischaracterized by mainstream lefties (now constituting about 20-25 percent of the population but with big microphones and big-mouthed celebrities aplenty) to make them seem “on the right side of history” via emotional outbursts and moral preachifying.
For once, they got the scheme off to a pretty good start:
When I was assembling the materials for this part of the post, I kept thinking of a comedy scene I knew I’d never be able to find. It was a perfect example of the lamest coverup of a costly mistake anyone could possibly attempt. If only I could find that film clip, it would make sense of all the slapstick content I’d been able to muster about the people and posturings of the Whatsit Party.
And then, lo and behold, I found it. I really did. The scene that tells the tale is brief enough. It begins about 9 minutes in and lasts only a couple of minutes, about one minute longer than blogger software allows. It’s easy, though, to advance the video to the right place. Give it a try.
It’s so appropriate for the Democrats I’m inclined to
call them the Fibber Magee Party (FMP) from now on.
Trump performed as the lefties had hoped and decided to backstop a depleted and only listlessly supported Los Angeles Police Department with a federally assigned contingent of the National Guard. The precedent for this was specific and local. During the Rodney King riots, LAPD was reinforced with both National Guard and U.S. Marines. Nevertheless such a bold federal action gave California’s elected Fibber Magee’s a golden opportunity to accuse Trump of the authoritarianism they hate so much when it is resorted to by anyone other than themselves. First to be shocked out of her shorts was Maxine Waters.
This tickled funny bones all the way from New York to Australia.
The mayor asserted her conviction that it was ICE deportations which caused protests later exacerbated by Trump overreaction:
Unfortunately, this not seeing what others saw reminded everyone
of her no-show during the California wildfires this January.
By this time, law enforcement people on the ground were also suspicious about protective face shields being distributed to rioters by mysterious Samaritans, the proliferation of identical protest signs, the omnipresent Mexican flags, and the mayor’s own history with La Raza and CCP-affiliated organization from South of the Border. Fortunately, the biggest guns of the FMP were on hand to agree with the mayor that the islands of ruckus here and there in a county the size of RI and DE put together were barely noticeable and certainly beyond any jurisdiction by a mere President of the United States. The Governor, still smarting from charges that his wife had been observed on a shopping spree in Beverly Hills while protesters burned and looted elsewhere, started talking tough about nibby-nosed dictators.
When Newsom’s moving oratory drew only a brush-off from the President, who said he’d already phoned the Governor and told him to get off his ass and do his job, the FMP came up with their zaniest, most brilliant ploy yet to win universal support for their position, whatever that was exactly. U.S. Senator Alex Padilla (Who?) raced through a back entrance to the stage of a press conference being held by DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and stormed her podium, demanding to be heard.
The security people assigned to protect the Secretary
blocked his entrance and led him out of the room.
The upshot? His continued resistance in the hallway turned into a takedown and handcuffing.
Didn’t they know who he is? He’s an effing Senator.
Triumph at last for the FMPs? New York Senator Chuck Schumer was so outraged that law enforcement officials anywhere in the country wouldn’t know who not to arrest. A Senator is untouchable, a sacred national treasure to be protected more protectively than a cabinet official or a Supreme Court Justice, or even a Presidential candidate. You know.
Chuck thinks a lot about personal safety. He expressly warned
Thomas and Alito that overturning the Roe decision could be
injurious to their, ahem, health and welfare and such.
Someone else who cares a lot about what she cares about is Alexandria Occlusio-Cortez. She was even more outraged than Schumer, who is too old to be a Senator now anyway, about Trump’s fragrantly illegal decision to send in the National Guard. No wonder that pushy new guy from Cali was so interested in getting his hands on Kristi Noem. All in all, she was so mad she could have just spit.
So she had a little bit of a fit. Who let that MAGA creep
into the Capitol? Wasn’t that already illegal too?
Meanwhile, the movers and shakers in DC had scoured the backwaters of New Jersey for a judge capable of ending the persecution of Los Angeleños by one of their tried and true third string benchwarmer mummies. This one had Cali roots (Berkeley!), thank heaven, and was somehow both a former Clinton and former Biden appointment(?). It’s complicated, as we explained.
Any port in a storm, as they used to say in the old, old days.
With renewed support from back East, Senator Padilla seized the opportunity to make a video speech on Twitter so all the stupid people could memorize his face for future reference. Maybe that’s why the vid looks so much like a mugshot.
This could become a standard FMP PR strategy in future. Get arrested for getting into the face of some A’hole MAGA official, kick and scream in the headlines about how unfair and illegal it is to apply laws to the politicians who are better than the law, and then make a humble speech showing everyone what a lovable person you are deep down. It might even work for the tank named Rep. McIver.
Or not. Maybe it actually takes someone really special to do your own mugshot and be pleased with yourself doing it. No doubt about it, the Fibber Magees definitely need some new leaders and some better punchlines if they’re to make a comeback anytime soon. The score thus far isn’t that great. Unless I’m wrong and people respond more positively to Dem he-males like Padilla. I’ll bet he could have shown a manly thing or two to that Noem bish. You?
Precisely. What the Hell.
