Happy New Year!

Image
Should Auld Acquaintance Be Forgot... Guy Lombardo. The once and future Czar of New Year’s Eve. Welcome to the past, which is the blurry black-and-white future the revolutionary Democrats-in-charge have in mind for you. 1957 is not ideal, not the final outcome envisioned by a party whose platform is essentially a mimeograph of the Bernie Sanders campaign platform. They couldn’t nominate him because he’s Jewish and a lifelong advocate of Cuban and Soviet “socialism,” which is to say he is a Communist in everything but name. So they stole all his policy prescriptions instead. Why HIS Life Matters. In 1957, Bernie was in high school. No doubt, one of the stories that attracted his attention to the USSR, which was its demonstration of superior technology via the first satellite in space, Sputnik. Leading the way, even if the dog dies. For the greater good. By the time he went to Brooklyn College in 1959, Castro was just coming to power and Bernie became a loud advocate for him and al...

Year-End Thoughts 2020

Image
O Happy Day! We’re almost out of this dreadful year. Think 2021 will be better? Here’s what I think. KNOWNS: The Swamp has won. No doubt about that. The combination of electoral mischief and the utterly inert performance of the Department of Justice in prosecuting FBI/CIA/NSA/Obama/Democrat Caucus crimes against the Trump administration are all the proof needed of that. The Supreme Court is also likely a Swamp creature, consisting of two genuine conservatives, two hard lefties, two more traditional liberals and three RINOs (i.e., all three Trump nominations, two men of weak character and a woman who will prove a tree hugger in deferring to existing court precedents). Dems should not have any need to stack the court, if that’s any consolation to Conservatives. Regardless, the Republic is dead . More about that later. In the meantime, you can prepare for the coming recession by investing in companies that make paper-shredding products. The lights will be on all night in every cubicl...

Science Fictions / Scarlet Ribbons

Image
A Christmas Song from When There Were Such Things A diversion for both victors and victims. Which are you? (Pregnant pause before music begins...) LYRICS FOR THE AUDIO-CHALLENGED: I looked in to eye the damage When I heard the left in prayer, “And for us, some science fictions, Science fictions full of fear”— global cooling, global warming Ozone holes, seas rising higher Poison fracking, plagues alarming, AIDS , yet populations spiking, Not one hope, Mankind suiciding. Through the gloom my heart was aching Waiting for the night’s forgetting In our land, as sun was setting, Dems dreamed death and sped it nearer Doomsdays needing tyrannies, Global warnings, lying sneerers, Lovely lefty science fictions,  Science fictions everywhere. If I live to be a hundred I will never see from where  Came their evil science fictions, Science fictions ruling here. If I live to be a hundred I will never see from where  Came their whorish scarlet ribbons, Scarlet ribbons bleeding here...

Why Believe in God — Part 3

“ Si Dieu n'existait pas, il faudrait l'inventer.”                                                                             - Voltaire The Brits killed their Judeo-Christian God in the 19th century. With time out for two World Wars, they have since plighted their troth to the socialist Labor Party and its promise to “share the wealth.” Today, the mockery once known as the C of E boasts thousands of empty churches and cathedrals, and the society at large has descended into a population of promiscuous, foul-mouthed, drug-addicted hooligans, with an average per capita income that barely bests the last-place U.S. state of Mississsippi. Underneath a veneer of democracy, the U.K. government is totalitarian, held in permanent power by the simple expedient of a on...

Jehovah’s Witnesses — A Pernicious Christian Cult

11 Million in Misery Jehovah’s Witnesses. You thought they were an intinerant joke. Not. Sorry for no file names. Just click on the links. They’re all anguished persons underneath the http urls. I think they want to be anonymous. They’re not inconsiderable. I’m spending loads of time on Scientology. These victims are harder to find, but just as abused, just as victimized, just as struck on the head with a wet sock in childhood as the Hubbard babies. In my childhood, we used to have these people call on us with their Watchtower Magazine. My dad dispatched them by claiming to be Catholic. It worked. But they’re still here today, in Elsinboro, 60 years later. I promise not to look down on them anymore. But I have no idea what to say to them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iptEh7l6Bec&t=31s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuFZuAsrPoU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zib3OixRFAM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMq5F-7hAYE https://www.aetv.com/shows/leah-remini-scientology-and-the...

Where Democrats ≈ Scientologists in debate, accusation, and defense of orthodoxy

Image
The Opposition is Lying. The Washington Post is a liar. Like all the rest of them . Lies are based on the premises you begin with. When you hate enough, there’s no room for exaggeration, factual slips, ordinary error (Obama’s “Marine Corpse” and “I don’t speak Austrian” and the truly malevolent “You can keep your doctor” don’t count), and the entire Mueller Investigation which was based entirely on lies doesn’t hold a candle to Trump’s political boasts about this and that. Benghazi anyone? Susan Rice lies for Hillary. Why Trump lies pale in comparison. Here, there, and everywhere. All the network news programs hosted her flat-out lies. But Youtube can only find this one instance. But who owns the front pages of all the newspapers in the country? Yeah. 90 percent Progressive . Talking Points. The only Talking Points Youtube can find are Trumpian. Searches for “everybody lies about sex” and “Trump tells thousands of lies” come up empty but for a WAPO farce that purports to be encyclope...

When Cults Become Religions...

Image
L to R, Joseph Smith ( Mormon ), William Miller ( 7th Day Adventist ), Charles Taze Russell ( Jehovah’s  Witnesses ), Aleister Crowley ( Satanist ),  L.Ron Hubbard ( Scientologists ), Nancy Lieder ( X-Planet Guru ). We all think we know about cults. Most of all, we know we’re immune. Only stupid people get trapped that way. But it’s okay because it’s a kind of self-contained cancer. Jim Jones and David Koresh and the Heaven’s Gate morons take themselves out while we watch in righteous (but amused, let’s face it) horror. Easy to blame it on splinter Christians run amok. It happens. But not always. The first three luminaries up top were nominal Christians. The latter three were/are not. Collectively, though, five of the six escape the popular definition of “cult.” They have become in the eyes of the world “religions,” meaning we’re supposed to give them the benefit of the doubt and judge their actions as maybe different but beyond damnation. The exact same way we give Islam a br...

A Near-Perfect Microcosm of “The Swamp”

Image
Ontogeny recapitulates philogeny. There’s an intensely contemporary reason for taking a close look at Scientology. The Swamp is so huge it seems like the Borg. But what are the stripped down essentials of the Borg? Here’s a look at a laboratory example, a microcosm if you will. In the interests of full disclosure, I did encounter Scientology back in the weird year of 1968. I was in Boston, got scooped in to a “Dianetics” exercise, and got speedily thrown out for having too much “charge” to participate. The one in charge was blond, bland to the point of creepy, and I almost (but not quite) succeeded in making him lose his temper. In further interests of disclosure, I spent years on Facebook, debating Trump-haters. They did lose their tempers. But they also exhibited the exact same repetition of Talking Points the lefties (and Scientologists) employ. Exact. Same. Words. How I made the cult connection. Overview Like it says. Troublemaker.   Lazareth LM847 - Drive Test 2018 - V8 ENGINE POWERED MOTORCYCLE - HD As a general rule, motorcycles only have 2 wheels. True, there are some 3-wheeled exceptions. Morgan, for example, will sell you a 3-wheeled vehicle that’s legally considered a motorcycle in most US states; ditto Canadian company Campagna. But if you want an actual motorcycle with 3 wheels, the only real choices are Can-Am or Harley-Davidson. And normally, 4 wheels is ATV territory. Now, though, a French firm has stepped up and made a 4-wheel motorcycle: the Lazareth LM410. The 4 17” wheels and Michelin Power Cup Evo tires aren’t even the most impressive features. That would be the engine, a 4.7-liter V8 provided by Maserati. It’s linked to a 1-speed transmission and develops 470 hp and 361 lb-ft. But, despite the massive engine, the LM847 weighs less than the Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide. There’s no 0-60 time or top speed recorded; Lazareth only claims the bike can go from 0-100 mph “in seconds.” However, the...

Why Believe in God — Part 2

They called, they  call  her still, a philosopher.  “Alone” by Edgar Allan Poe From childhood’s hour I have not been  As others were—I have not seen  As others saw—I could not bring  My passions from a common spring—  From the same source I have not taken  My sorrow—I could not awaken  My heart to joy at the same tone—  And all I lov’d— I  lov’d alone—  Then —in my childhood—in the dawn  Of a most stormy life—was drawn  From ev’ry depth of good and ill  The mystery which binds me still—  From the torrent, or the fountain—  From the red cliff of the mountain—  From the sun that ’round me roll’d  In its autumn tint of gold—  From the lightning in the sky  As it pass’d me flying by—  From the thunder, and the storm—  And the cloud that took the form  (When the rest of Heaven was blue)  Of a demon in my view— It was Poe who was the philosopher. A genuine m...

The Algonquin Round Table

Image
I went there in my twenties. Had to see the place where the elite writers gathered and drank so awfully together. I was drinking awfully in those days too. It was smaller than I expected, darker, dimmer. I was the only one there. Lonely, dark, and no one home. Do any of you know about the Roundtable ? “The group first gathered in the Algonquin's Pergola Room (later called the Oak Room) at a long rectangular table. As they increased in number, Algonquin manager Frank Case moved them to the Rose Room and a round table.[2] Initially the group called itself "The Board" and the luncheons "Board meetings". After being assigned a waiter named Luigi, the group re-christened itself "Luigi Board". Finally they became "The Vicious Circle" although "The Round Table" gained wide currency after a caricature by cartoonist Edmund Duffy of the  Brooklyn Eagle portrayed the group sitting at a round table and wearing armor.[3]... “In addition to the d...

Why Believe in God?

Image
Guessing what I’m about to do you could call preaching. But I’m a special case, maybe an emblematic one. Why you should probably listen. I’ll start with a few non-sequiturs. All focused on a point, seeming random only because the origins of the various foci differ, not their target. Took up the game of pool when I was in my early teens. Got good at it. I was an outstanding shot maker. Long shots, banks, English, cue ball antics, I was good. Played and often won. Never for money. Just love of the game. In my early fifties, a black guy I’d just met in a seedy hometown bar took pity on me and corrected the one huge hole in my game. I could never sink anything on the break. He showed me what I was doing wrong and never beat me again. I gave up playing pool not long after that. Gave up drinking in my mid-twenties. I had overdone and needed to save my soul from ruin. Stone cold sober for a dozen years of increasingly cold achievement. A German devil(?) on a plane cracked my sobriety an...

Life goes on. Lewis Hamilton is a Knight of the Realm. And a Scottish Deerhound is Best in Show

Image
National Dog Show A 3-year-old  Scottish deerhound  named Claire won the National Dog Show 2020 Thursday — becoming the first of her breed ever to fetch the coveted title. The smiley pooch won the top accolade with her owner, Angela Lloyd, at her side, beating out seven finalists and a total of 538 entries. Dog lovers quickly took to social media to cheer the tall, scraggly-haired underdog... The host of the annual Thanksgiving day competition, Kennel Club of Philadelphia President Wayne Ferguson, said it’s the first time in the show’s 135-year history that the breed emerged as a star. “Scottish deerhounds are not usually in the best-in-show limelight,” Ferguson told NJ Advance Media, adding that they’re “one of the oldest breeds that the American Kennel Club recognized.” But despite being the first of her breed to win best-in-show at the National Dog Show, Claire does hail from a long line of champions. Her grandmother, Hickory, won best-in-show at the Westminster Kenn...

Death of the Republic

Image
Marc Antony:  “ Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears; “I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him. The evil that men do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones; So let it be with Caesar. The noble Brutus Hath told you Caesar was ambitious: If it were so, it was a grievous fault, And grievously hath Caesar answer’d it. Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest– For Brutus is an honourable man; So are they all, all honourable men– Come I to speak in Caesar’s funeral. He was my friend, faithful and just to me: But Brutus says he was ambitious; And Brutus is an honourable man.”     [Worth noting, Gaius Julius Caesar was not an emperor; the successors who fought for absolute power and took his name as a title were emperors and brought about the death of the several hundred years of Roman Republic.]      The American Republic is now at an end. We had a good run. He will be forced to concede, because Trump will not declare martial law....
