About that feller Norm Chompski…

A long time ago I decided to build a little time capsule depicting the world as we were experiencing it at the very end of the 20th Century. It was called Shuteye Town 1999 and is still hanging on for dear life here.

Like the rest of 1999 it had a lot of public transportation, a lot of entertainment media, and a big mall with the usual stores, including one that sold the books of the day.

The way it worked, you could use your mouse or touch screen to go where you wanted and get what you wanted with your handy-dandy credit card. The bookstore had been the scene of a recent shooting, but you could get past the crime scene tape and shop for all kinds of publications, even the intellectual crap from the Shuteye Times bestseller list. One of the books in the intellectual category was Norm Chompski’s Global Politics. He was one of about 50 authors whose book was featured not just with a front and back cover display, but also a selection of the text.

I’m telling you all this because Norm is back in the news right now under his real world monicker, Noam Chomsky. There’s an intimation that he had an inappropriate friendship. I commented on the Gateway Pundit coverage of this at Facebook:

Sorry it looks like it was carelessly ripped out of the social network screen display. It kind of was.

I’m showing you the material in Moon Books that would seem to indicate that Chompski’s friends were a motley lot long before he reached his mid-eighties. These are the pictorial exhibits included with his book excerpt. The accompanying quotes were intended to verify his broad appeal far beyond the mathematical  mausoleum of M.I.T.

The post as it appeared back in 1999:

Norm Chompski. It’s hard to say what he does exactly. But there certainly are a lot of people who seem to think he’s unusually brilliant.

Chompski himself at one the many award ceremonies he scored in.

It’s possible the last two pics were deliberately left blank because
they had just seen a proof copy of Chompski’s latest book.

So. Everybody agrees he’s brilliant. Even he agrees. He has a book out that some people have read. We can show you some of it here:

I guess maybe you can see why I’m not too worried that Norm, or Noam or whoever, did any really serious damage to anybody by corresponding with a man who also had funny taste in hate and political cronies…

Just to pretend I’m being fair, I’ll let him have the last word in his own defense…
